Will recording Call of Duty get you banned?

Quick answer

Screen recording can’t aim for you, see through walls or play the game. RankKD records Call of Duty through Windows, the way capture apps do. It never injects code, reads game memory, changes game files or draws over your game, and it gives no tips while you play. We can’t speak for any publisher’s anti-cheat, so here is exactly what RankKD does.

What RankKD does

  • Captures the game window through Windows (Windows Graphics Capture), not from inside the game.
  • Reads the screen on your PC to know when a lobby and a match start and end.
  • Records game sound through Windows. Your mic only if you turn it on.
  • Reads your controller or keyboard to show on replays and measure reaction time. Read only.
  • Coaches you after the match, on our servers, from the finished recording.

What it never does

  • Inject code into the game
  • Read or write game memory
  • Change game files or settings
  • Draw overlays, ESP or anything over the game
  • Give live tips, callouts or assists
  • Send inputs, macros or automation to the game
  • Disable or get around anti-cheat

While you play vs
after the match

The line is simple. During the match, RankKD only records. All the coaching happens after it ends.

While you play

Records the match. Reads the screen to spot the lobby and the match. Shows nothing in your game.

After the match

Uploads the recording. Reviews it on our servers. You see the breakdown in the app.

RankKD is not endorsed or approved by Activision or any anti-cheat vendor. These are facts about how RankKD works, not a promise about any publisher’s enforcement.

Your recordings,
your call

  • Saved on your PC. Your recordings live on your drive.
  • Uploading is not sharing. A match is uploaded for analysis, never published.
  • Shares carry game sound only. Your mic and party chat are never in a public share.
  • Coaching stays private. Even with a public profile.

Questions

Is it against the rules to record Call of Duty?

Recording your own gameplay is common, and many capture apps do it. RankKD records through Windows and never touches the game. We can't speak for Activision's enforcement, so we publish exactly what RankKD does.

Does RankKD use an overlay?

No. RankKD draws nothing over your game.

Does RankKD give live coaching?

No. There are no tips, callouts or alerts during a match. The coaching is made after the match, from the recording.

Does it read my keyboard?

Only a fixed set of common gameplay keys, plus mouse movement, buttons and scrolling, and only while the game window is focused. You can turn input recording off.

Is RankKD legit?

RankKD is a Windows app for Call of Duty players that records matches and reviews them after you play. Every technical detail is in our anti-cheat disclosure.
