Coal is an abandoned Soviet coal plant up in the mountains. A fallen smokestack, ore chutes and processing buildings run down to a polluted river. It's one of the 12 core 6v6 maps Modern Warfare 4 launched with. Coal has five Hardpoint hills and two Search and Destroy bomb sites, A and B.

Coal is long from north to south. The middle of the map is the plant itself, with the river and flood plain around its edges. One team starts in the north-east, the other at the south end. North points right on this map, so the west side is at the top.
Open the map on the Tac Board to draw a play on it and send it to your squad.
Hardpoint on Coal
Coal has five hills. They go P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 in a fixed order, then back to P1.
- P1: the middle of the map, in the plant
- P2: the east side, north of P4
- P3: the west side, on the same spot as B
- P4: the east side, on the same spot as A
- P5: the south-west corner
P2 to P3 is the long one, straight across the map from the east side to the west. P3 to P4 and P4 to P5 cross the map too. P5 back to P1 is the shortest. For when to leave a hill and how to set up the next one, see the MW4 Hardpoint tips.

A is on the east side, where P4 is. B is on the west side, where P3 is. One team starts in the north-east. The other starts at the south end.

Is Coal in MW4 Ranked Play?
Not yet. Ranked Play is coming to MW4, but its date, modes and maps haven't been announced. The CDL's 2027 season starts December 4 with 5 Hardpoint, 5 Search and Destroy and 3 Hijack maps, and it hasn't named them yet. For what each mode asks of you, see MW4 multiplayer modes.
