Looking for a ShadowPlay alternative for Call of Duty? ShadowPlay saves a clip when you press the hotkey, and NVIDIA Highlights, its automatic capture, doesn't cover Black Ops 7: the only Call of Duty on its list is WWII 1,4,5. RankKD runs on Windows PC. It records every match on its own from the lobby, reads your rank and SR before and after, and reviews every match after it ends.

What does ShadowPlay do?
ShadowPlay is the gameplay recorder in the NVIDIA app. NVIDIA asks GeForce Experience users to upgrade to the NVIDIA app so they keep features like ShadowPlay, and the app installs from NVIDIA's website or with the latest Game Ready Driver 6.
Instant Replay
Instant Replay keeps a rolling recording once you turn it on, and its save hotkey keeps the last stretch when something happens 4. NVIDIA's app page describes it as saving "the last 30 seconds of gameplay" 1, and you set the length, and see the current keys, with the Settings cog in the Alt+Z overlay 4.
Record
Alt+F9 starts a recording, and it keeps going until you press it again 4. NVIDIA lists manual recording at up to 4K HDR at 120 frames per second, or 8K HDR at 30 frames per second 1, and app 11.0.8 added 240 frames per second recording on GeForce RTX 50 and 40 Series GPUs 2. GeForce RTX 40 and 50 Series cards can record in AV1, which NVIDIA says needs less disk space for the same quality 1,2,7.
Highlights
NVIDIA Highlights "automatically captures key moments, clutch kills, and match-winning plays" 1, but only in compatible games 4. NVIDIA's supported-games list has 45 Highlights entries, and the only Call of Duty among them is Call of Duty: WWII from 2017. Black Ops 7 and Black Ops 6 are listed only for Freestyle filters, and Modern Warfare III for Freestyle filters and optimal settings 5.
What you need
ShadowPlay runs on NVIDIA GPUs. The NVIDIA app's system requirements list GeForce RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 Series cards 3.
Where ShadowPlay stops for ranked CoD
You save the moment yourself
In BO7, ShadowPlay doesn't clip anything on its own, because Highlights doesn't cover the game 5. You either press the Instant Replay hotkey after the play, or start a recording before the match and stop it after 4. If you don't press the hotkey before the buffer rolls past the play, the play isn't saved. If you don't start a recording, the match isn't saved either.
A clip is one play, not the match
A saved buffer holds the last stretch of gameplay, at the length you set 1,4. Reviewing a ranked loss means watching the rounds and rotations around your deaths, not just the kill you were proud of. For what a review covers, see how to VOD review CoD.
A video file doesn't know your SR
NVIDIA describes ShadowPlay as a recorder for video and screenshots; tracking matches, rank or SR isn't among the features it lists 1,4. In BO7 Ranked, where you finish on the scoreboard moves your SR 8,9, so the match around the clip matters. More in BO7 Ranked SR explained.
How does RankKD record and review every match?
RankKD runs on Windows PC.
Recording without a hotkey
Launch the game and play. RankKD spots the lobby, starts recording before the match begins and files every match in your library, with your rank and SR from before and after. Nothing to press. Leave early and the match is saved as a partial.
- Clip anything (Free): mark any stretch of a match and share it with one link.
- Best moments, tagged for you (Pro and Elite): with every kill and death marked on the match timeline, so the video jumps straight to any of them.
- Separate audio tracks: game sound, your mic and party chat record on their own tracks.
- Your inputs on screen: turn on input recording and RankKD records your mouse, keyboard or controller inputs alongside the video.
Free records every match up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. Pro and Elite lift the cap, up to 4K at 120 frames per second. More on how RankKD works.
Then RankKD reviews it
After the match, RankKD reviews the footage and grades it like a coach:
- A match grade, S to D, against your own recent matches, with your top 3 fixes in order.
- Every gunfight graded: fights won, first hit, time-to-kill and crosshair placement.
- Objective play: hill by hill in Hardpoint, round by round in SnD and ball by ball in Overload.
- The video behind every fix: every mistake links to the exact seconds that prove it, with your inputs on screen.
Every stat is compared with your rank and the rank above. More in CoD VOD review and Black Ops 7 Ranked.
Fair play: RankKD only records while you play and analyzes after the match, never while you play. No overlays, no assists, no live info. Read the anti-cheat disclosure.

Not with current Call of Duty. NVIDIA's supported-games list has 45 Highlights entries, and the only Call of Duty among them is WWII (2017). Black Ops 7 and Black Ops 6 are listed only for Freestyle filters, and Modern Warfare III for Freestyle filters and optimal settings 5.

What does RankKD cost?
Recording, the match library, clips and share links are free, with one full breakdown on us. Pro is $9.99 a month for 100 full analyses, and Elite is $19.99 a month for 250. Details are on coaching plans.
