Black Ops 7 Ranked Play is 4v4 Hardpoint, Search & Destroy and Overload on the Call of Duty League ruleset. Since Season 04, you can see exactly how your SR moves. Every win pays a flat +20 SR. On top of that, you get a bonus for finishing top 4 on the scoreboard, plus adjustments based on whose ranks you outperform. RankKD records your BO7 multiplayer matches on Windows PC and coaches you from the footage after each one, never while you play. It tracks your SR in Modern Warfare 4 Ranked Play from the day it goes live too.
BO7 Ranked Play has ended. Season 06, the last season, launched September 17, 2026. Treyarch called it a 3-week sprint. Warzone's Season 06 notes describe three weeks of normal Ranked, then a week of Ranked Series. Treyarch's sign-off points players to MW4, but no MW4 Ranked rules are out yet.
How does BO7 Ranked Play work?
How do you unlock Ranked in BO7?
You need 50 wins in matchmade Multiplayer. Party Game and Limited Time Mode wins don't count. Safeguard wins have counted since February 25, 2026. On PC, Ranked also needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot turned on. If your PC fails that check, you land in a limited pool that can only play Nuketown 24/7.
Everyone starts Unranked and has to win 3 placement matches. Your projected starting rank (the Minimum Starting Rank) updates after each win. Between seasons, Bronze through Gold kept their rank and SR. Platinum and above had to win 1 placement match to get placed again.
BO7 ranks and SR thresholds
BO7 Ranked has seven ranks. Every rank below Iridescent has three tiers, with these SR floors:
| Rank | I | II | III |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 | 300 | 600 |
| Silver | 900 | 1,300 | 1,700 |
| Gold | 2,100 | 2,600 | 3,100 |
| Platinum | 3,600 | 4,200 | 4,800 |
| Diamond | 5,400 | 6,100 | 6,800 |
| Crimson | 7,500 | 8,300 | 9,100 |
| Iridescent | 10,000+ (no tiers) |
Top 250 isn't an SR number. Players at 10,000+ SR are ranked #1 to #250 by current SR on a live leaderboard.
How is SR calculated in BO7 Ranked?
After a win you get four things:
- A flat +20 SR, at every rank.
- A Scoreboard Bonus for finishing top 4. The higher you finish, the bigger it is.
- An Opponent Rank Adjustment. You get extra SR for outperforming higher-ranked players, and less when lower-ranked players outperform you or when you outperform them. Since Season 05, it only counts against players 3 or more tiers away. A Platinum III who outperforms a Diamond III gets it. Outperforming a Diamond I doesn't count.
- An Underdog Team Bonus when you beat a much higher-ranked team, or a Favored Team Penalty when the team you beat was lower-ranked.
The post-match summary shows every point. Treyarch never published what each scoreboard position is worth.
When you lose, you drop a base amount that goes up with rank:
| Rank | Base SR loss |
|---|---|
| Bronze, Silver, Gold | -20 |
| Platinum | -25 |
| Diamond | -30 |
| Crimson | -40 |
| 10,000+ SR | -40 |
| 12,500+ SR | -50 |
| 15,000+ SR | -55 |
| 17,500+ SR | -60 |
| 20,000+ SR | -65 |
The Bronze to Crimson numbers are from Season 05. The 10,000+ numbers are from Season 04, and Season 05 didn't restate them. Losing to a much higher-ranked team costs you less. Losing to a lower-ranked team costs you more. Season 06 adds an extra -10 to -40 SR when you lose and finish 5th to 8th. The amount for each position wasn't published.
The same section of the Season 06 notes lists fixed Opponent Rank values. Outscore a player 3+ tiers higher and you get +20 SR (+40 at 6+ tiers). Outscore a player 3+ tiers lower and it's -20 SR (-40 at 6+). The notes don't say whether those values also apply after wins.
So how do you climb? In Season 04, Treyarch's advice was to outperform players at your rank or higher. Since Season 05, only opponents 3 or more tiers away trigger an Opponent Rank Adjustment. Unless your lobby has a gap that big, the thing you control is your scoreboard spot. Finish top 4 when you win to get the Scoreboard Bonus. When you lose, stay out of 5th to 8th. Since Season 06, that costs an extra 10 to 40 SR. The full math is in BO7 Ranked SR explained.
Loss Forgiveness launched in Season 02. You lost no SR on:
- your first loss each day
- your first 3 losses of a season, counted after placements
- your first 3 losses after a rank-up
- a loss where a matchmade teammate quit. If that teammate rejoined, the loss was reduced instead.
Those are the Season 02 launch rules. Treyarch hasn't restated them since the Season 04 SR changes, so they may be different now.
Rules, maps and parties
- Loadouts: ARs, SMGs, pistols and melee, plus snipers in S&D only. Every loadout item is unlocked. Perk Greed is the only Wildcard. Combat Specialties and Overclocks are off. The CDL's restricted list of weapons, attachments, equipment, perks and scorestreaks applies, and so does anything CDL pros skip by Gentleman's Agreement.
- Map veto: each team vetoes one of three map and mode options. If both teams veto the same one, the game picks one of the other two at random.
- Penalties: friendly fire is on. Disconnects, friendly fire and going inactive all bring SR penalties and suspensions.
- Parties: since Season 04, Crimson players can party up to four. Iridescent and Top 250 are limited to duos.
Maps: since Season 05, the Ranked map pool has been bigger than the CDL's:
| Mode | CDL pool (Competitive Settings V1.1) | Added to Ranked in Season 05 |
|---|---|---|
| Hardpoint | Colossus, Den, Gridlock, Hacienda, Sake, Scar | Frequency, Vertigo, Blackheart, Exposure |
| Search & Destroy | Den, Fringe, Gridlock, Hacienda, Raid, Sake | Frequency, Vertigo, Colossus, Exposure, Scar |
| Overload | Den, Exposure, Gridlock, Scar | Frequency, Vertigo |
Season 06 added Exposure back to the Ranked pool without saying for which modes. No full Season 06 Ranked pool has been published. Dot Esports' Season 05 Ranked list has Hacienda in Hardpoint and S&D, but no Ranked patch note names it.
BO7 Ranked tips for Hardpoint, S&D and Overload
Hardpoint: hill time is the only score
Ranked Hardpoint uses the CDL's settings. It's first to 250. Hills last 1 minute and rotate in a fixed order, and the next hill shows 10 seconds early. Kills are worth 0 points. Respawn is 3 seconds. There's no killcam, no enemy on compass and no always-on radar, but enemy gunfire shows on the minimap.
- Rotate before the reveal. Learn each map's hill order and get to the next hill early. Don't wait for the 10-second reveal. Exact timing depends on the situation, but once a hill drops below about 25 seconds, start thinking about the next one.
- Kills only matter if they buy hill time or move spawns. A pinch kill that doesn't win you the hill is a wasted kill.
- Control spawns while you hold. Keep a player on the side of the map you don't want the enemy spawning near. If more of your team is pushed past the middle of the hill than pulled back, expect the enemy to spawn behind you.
- If you call one thing, call where they're spawning. If your comms are thin, start there.
- Bring utility to every break. If you can't break a hill, chalk it and set up for the next one.
How RankKD helps: RankKD breaks down your Hardpoint hill by hill: your hill time, your rotation timing and your deaths to spawn flips. You'll see every time you got to the next hill late.

Search & Destroy: play your life
Ranked S&D rounds are 1:30. It's first to 6 with no win-by-two, so 5-5 goes to a single Round 11. The bomb timer is 45 seconds. Plants take 5 seconds and defuses take 7.5. Silent Plant is on, so don't count on hearing the plant.
- Don't play outnumbered. Play your life. Even the five CDL players with the most clutches won only about 24% of their 1v2s and 4% of their 1v3s. That's from Breaking Point's BO7 numbers going into 2026 Champs.
- Don't give up the first death for free. In Breaking Point's tracking of 2026 CDL Stage II, teams that won the opening duel took 66.7% to 88.7% of those rounds. The best comeback team won only 39.5% after losing it. Take that first fight with a teammate close enough to trade. Losing the first gunfight is fine if your teammate gets the trade.
- Use the clock. If a defender hasn't started defusing with 7.5 seconds left, they can't finish. Attackers need 5 clean seconds to plant. After a plant, make the last defender move first, or pull them off the bomb as the timer runs down. On defense late in a round with no plant, keep drawing attackers out. Don't take a fight you don't need.
Review your S&D rounds on video. Pro teams do: before CDL Champs 2023, the New York Subliners came into the office at 9 AM just to watch S&D VODs.
How RankKD helps: RankKD goes through your S&D round by round. It shows your opening duels, how often you're the first death of the round, and your deaths early in the round.

Overload: play where the ball is going
Overload has one device on the map, which players call the ball. Carry it into either enemy zone to score 1 point. First to 8 wins. Halves end at 4 points or 5 minutes. The carrier can only use a pistol and gets no personal radar in Ranked.
- Cut off the carrier where they're headed. The enemy carrier's icon updates every 2 seconds. Read their route and beat them to the choke point.
- Play for the next ball. After a score, rotate to where the next ball spawns and hold that spot before anyone can pick it up. Ranked turns random ball locations off. After the first ball, it spawns in one of three spots across the middle, and the community wiki says they cycle. Learn each map's order. Gridlock has only one ball spawn.
- Don't escort your carrier as a group. Keep challenging forward. The pressure makes defenders turn and fight you, which opens space for your teammates.
- Wrap when they have the ball and the kills. Wrapping means rotating around to get between their carrier and your zones instead of pushing mid. Once they have the kills and the ball, wrap. Don't go mid.
- Switch to your pistol before you pick up the ball. You skip the swap animation.
How RankKD helps: RankKD breaks down your Overload games ball by ball: your deaths while carrying, when you pushed the ball, and how you spaced around your carrier.
More in the Overload guide.
BO7 movement in Ranked
BO7 keeps Omnimovement from Black Ops 6, toned down a little, and adds the Wall Jump, which most players call the wall bounce. Three things to know for Ranked:
- You can aim down sights while sliding, diving and wall jumping without a perk. Dexterity is the only legal Perk 3.
- You don't get Enforcer's speed boost after a kill. Ranked turns Combat Specialties off.
- Movement costs time. In the patch notes we checked, slide-to-fire is about 80 ms slower than tac-sprint-to-fire and about 200 ms slower than sprint-to-fire. After the March 31, 2026 update, the Ryden 45K took 130 ms out of a sprint, 250 ms out of a tac sprint and 330 ms out of a slide. Start your slide or bounce early so your gun is up when they see you.
Returning maps don't always play the way you remember. Hacienda came back from BO6 in Season 03 with extra wall jump spots. See Hacienda callouts and gunfight fundamentals.
BO7 stats tracker and coaching: what RankKD does
RankKD runs on Windows PC. It supports Black Ops 7 multiplayer, and Modern Warfare 4 from its launch, with MW4 Ranked Play from the day it goes live (supported games). RankKD records every match automatically, starting before the match begins. It captures your rank and SR before and after each match and saves the match to your library.
After each match, RankKD grades the footage the way a Call of Duty coach would:
- Your scoreboard finish, match by match. See how often you land top 4 in wins and in losses, the spot BO7's SR system paid on.
- Hardpoint hill by hill: hill time, rotation timing and deaths to spawn flips.
- S&D round by round: opening duels, first deaths and deaths early in the round.
- Overload ball by ball: deaths while carrying, when you pushed the ball, and how you spaced around your carrier.
- Every gunfight graded: fights won, first hit, time-to-kill and crosshair placement.
- Where you die: death heatmaps grouped by callout, plus your worst map and why.
- Receipts: every note links to the exact moment in the video, with your inputs on screen. Every stat is compared with players at your rank and the rank above.
Fair play: RankKD analyzes your match after it ends, never while you play. No overlays, no assists, no live info, no mods.
Plans: recording, your library, SR tracking and clips are free, and your first full breakdown is on us. Paid plans add full analysis. See coaching plans.
